Greetings All:

We stand on the edge of greatness... Field Day greatness, that is.
Because any weekend spent participating in Field Day is the epitome of
greatness. Here is a late update on the site:

I marked all of the HF antenna locations except 10 meters, and I also did
not mark the 2m or SATCOM stations, mainly because they are up near the
clubhouse. Thanks Bill, N2FZ, for pounding the stakes in for me! All of
the more remote locations have been marked, so that when you arrive on site
you know where to put your antenna. As I stated before, I don't
really care where you set up your shelter, but I would like to see your
antenna at least close to where your stake is.

When I got home from the site, I had enough daylight to hitch up the truck
to the trailer, so that will save me some time. I am working tomorrow from
home, until about 2:30, and then I plan to just toss my bags in the truck
and go. I expect to be on the site sometime after 3:00, and begin
dis-gorging the huge amount of hardware that is in my trailer. Weather
permitting, we would like to at least get a couple of the larger masts put
up tomorrow, to save us work on Saturday morning. If anyone can come out
to help tomorrow afternoon, it would be appreciated.

One thing we did not see on the site, is any sign of anything being set up
for the wine festival. I don't know if the event is rain or shine, but
they might have taken advantage of the dry weather tonight to at least drop
off some equipment, but we saw nothing going on. Perhaps they have a rain
date, I really don't know. I do know that we will be out there, rain or
shine, and will be operating unless the threat of lightning forces us to
shut down our stations for a time. I ask that everyone try to have a
handheld radio on their site, tuned to 147.54 FM simplex, so that we can
communicate such important messages as LIGHTNING APPROACHING, ALL CLEAR TO
RESUME OPERATING, and DINNER IS SERVED, GET IT WHILE IT IS HOT! If you
don't have a handheld, contact me and I will get you one to use.

That is about all for now. I hope to see some of you after 3 PM tomorrow,
some of you after 9 AM on Saturday, and some of you after 12 Noon on Sunday
for set-up and tear-down, and I hope to see all of you having a great time
at all times in between those times. If you are coming out to help with
antennas, bring work gloves, and if you have one, a hard hat. If you are
coming out to operate, bring a set of headphones, and a 2m handheld radio.
If you are just coming out to visit, bring a friend and join us. We would
love to get you in on the fun. 73 for now.

FD Chairman 2023
