the question comes up often, so you are in good company!
In addition to what Court answered, I would steer you away from Ham Radio
Delux for logging.
Bar far the #1 free logger program right now, for digital, cw, phone, for
contests and pleasure use, for integration with common softwares like
fldigi, wsjt and with the most online Youtube videos and "how to"
presentations is this one:

It is full featured, meaning you should read the manual to use, but if you
are going to invest in learning one logger for ham radio, that would be it.
