I received an interesting Christmas present this year from my daughter and
son-in-law--a book on the design and content of QSL cards titled "QSL: Do
You Confirm Receipt of my Transmission?" (A Visual Language of Two-Way
Radio Communication).
It's a unique take on the topic as it is written by a designer and not a
Ham radio operator. He uses QSL cards that he obtained in an antique store
in upstate New York. The cards came from the estate of Charles Hellman,
W2RP, who had lived to 106 and was licensed for 92 years.
There is a good introduction to the topic of QSL cards and a variety of
detailed graphics highlighting the designs and layouts of the cards.
The Schlitz Brewing Company advertisement on page 21 is worth the price of
the book.
Also, check out the obituary for Charles Hellman on the last page of the
book. He had quite an accomplished life.
It's published by Standards Manual in Brooklyn, NY. They have a very
interesting catalogue of books on graphic design and typography that is
definitely worth checking out.
The QSL book can be found at the following website address:

Hope you found this interesting.
