I work mainly YSF and Wires-X and have all Yaesu rigs. I don't do HF
anymore.
I have (2) FTM-200 and use one at the house as my Wires-x node and one in
the RV as another Wires-X node, or as a mobile 2/44 radio when we're
traveling.
I have an FTM-300 in the car that can do YSF, Wires-X and local repeaters,
and an FTM400XDR in the house that I use to connect to my Wires-X nodes and
for local repeaters.
My antennas are in the attic. My node at the house uses a Diamond 200X and
my FTM-400 uses an SG7900, also in the attic and I can hit Newtown Square,
PA, Woodstown, Newark, DE, etc. from here on Sewell on that.
The 200 is the cheapest of these radios and works just fine everywhere.
Hope this help!

Subject: [GCARC] Mobile radio suggestions
Black Friday and Cyber Monday did it's intended damage on me. I'm now
thinking about a mobile for the car. I was looking at the Yaesu FT-8900
which is hard to come by currently. I was dazzled by the cheap Chinese
radios on Amazon until I read the reviews. Seems the prudent course is the
more expensive one. Then I started to wonder if a quad band is the way to
go. What do you think? What is an appropriate mobile radio for our area?
I'm not in the position to spend a lot. Please keep that in mind when
suggesting a radio.
Thank you for your help.
