[GCARC] DX ALERT

To all of you who are limited to low power and compromised antennas, but
dream about working lots of good DX, consider this a DX alert. The Solar
Flux Index hit 180 late last night, and is still sitting at that level this
morning. What this means is that over the next several days, there are
going to be multiple opportunities to work great DX on the upper HF bands.
It is likely that 15 meters will be open all day, and that 20 will stay
open late into the night, acting more like 40 meters. The potential for 10
meters is even more exciting, as it should be possible to do some real long
distance work ( Australia, New Zealand, and beyond ) with very little
power. The 12m and 17m "WARC" bands should be quite good as well.
So waste no more time, and squander not this opportunity to take advantage
of conditions like we have not seen in years. Check the spots on
DXsummit.fi and get shopping for your latest DXCC count additions. It will
be easier than you think. I personally plan to do some mobile DXing from
my truck, just for the novelty and challenge of it, and to field-test my
new mobile HF installation. Good luck, and good DX!
