Good afternoon!
I'm an electrical and computer engineering student at Rowan University.
This year I have been working on a team to build a rocket to enter in a
competition in Southern California this June. This past winter I just go
licensed in amateur radio for different aspects of our control system on
the rocket. I am currently working on a recovery method for after it lands.
The original idea was to use a GPS that we already own, but the signal
cannot reach the satellites due to the carbon fiber body. We already have
two antennas attached to the outside of the body transmitting TV signal and
communicating with the on board flight computer. I wanted to reach out to
see if there was anyone I could talk to about using RF direction finding to
locate the rocket. I have done a fair share of research online, but have no
luck. And since I don't have much experience yet with the radio, I'm having
a hard time coming up with a solution.
Any help would be much appreciated! I am free to email at
kuhnti62 at students.rowan.edu or call at (856) 340-0053. I'd also be happy to
call on my radio or stop in to your club house, whatever is easiest for you!
Thank you so much for your time!
