GCARC,

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a Nationwide Program that is now part of FEMA, that educates volunteers about disaster preparedness and how to work with the Federal, State and Local Government, along with other agencies like the Red Cross and Salvation Army, during and after a disaster.

The Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator sees the value of having the Gloucester County Amateur Radio Club being part of this CERT and is anxious to meet with Karl (W2KBF) and I to discuss a plan. This is the opportunity that we have all been preparing for at Field Days, Fox Hunts, Contests, Nets and Drills. Let’s do this together.

Below is a link to the NJ OEM website, that describes the CERT program. There is also more detail on the FEMA website. You may have to copy the url and paste it into your browser.

If you are even a little interested in becoming part of this CERT program or possibly an AUXCOMM program, please reply to me with an email.

Thanks and 73,

Bob Keogh (KD2NEC
