Greetings All;
I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for coming out, pitching
in, and helping make FD2021 one of our best in years. With a good head
start on Friday, everything went up in time for the start, and in general
was ready to go at 1400 local time on Saturday. We had a few issues with
the Wine Festival, but managed to overcome most of them and get our stuff
done while they did their thing.
I had plenty of good operators this year, so I was able to get around and
visit every station and the clubhouse and I must say I was impressed with
what I saw. Everyone had their ducks in a row and were busy making
contacts. We had some nice fireside chats late on Saturday night, and a
great breakfast on Sunday morning. Even the weather spared us from its
worst offerings, though we did have a shower or two, and some real SNJ
summer mugginess. But somehow we got it all done.
Finally, I really would like to thank everyone for all the help in breaking
down the 80/20 CW station and antennas. We were packed up in record time,
and off the site long before the wine enthusiasts called it a weekend. I
really did appreciate that, as I was starting to wear down by that point.
My wife asked me why I am so enamored with Field Day every year when it is
SO MUCH WORK. And of course I told her, because it is SO MUCH FUN! And
that said it all.
Now if you missed it, you missed a lot, so try your best next year to be
there. You will not regret it. I hope to see everyone out at the next
meeting on July 7th. Until then, 73!
