Welcome!

Do yourself a favor if you select a mobile/base station 2m/400. Purchase the RT Systems programming software (and cable). Or get a cable and use Chirp programming (free download), to program your base/mobile/HT. It will save you a tone of headache and make it much easier.

Subject: Re: [GCARC] KC2IEB - Introductions

Good evening, everyone! This is my first message to the group and I'm
another new guy. I'm Jerry Patterson from Washington Township and I've met
and spoken to a few of you. I'm still very new to the hobby, having my
Technician for only about 6 weeks. I'm still working on a Baofeng right
now as I research what I want in the way of a base station. I'm
specifically interested in the emergency response and event communications
parts of the hobby. I'm now a part of ARES and looking forward to joining
RACES as well. I work in IT (cyber security) and I'm married with two kids
and two step kids. I'm looking forward to meeting more of the club and I'm
just trying to come up to speed on everything, take additional training and
get my general! Hope you all had a great Halloween!
