CONGRATULATIONS!!! Tony, but somehow I will always remember you as WA2FZB, after all we both go back a long way.  However, I will always be KA2OSV, the Old Salty Veteran.  Good Luck With the new call.

JIM, KA2OSV

Great move! I love 1x2 calls. I hate 2x3 calls. They totally suck and are hard to remember. I too was going to take the 1x2 KT2Y, but some bum named Herb in New Jersey, already had it!

Subject: [GCARC] WA2FZB now K3TS

Greetings All,

I am pleased to announce that, after 43 years, my awful call sign of WA2FZB
has finally been put to rest. I got an e-mail this morning from the FCC
informing me that my application for a vanity call sign has been granted,
and my FIRST CHOICE out of three has been assigned to me. From this point
forward, I will be known as K3TS, which will (hopefully) afford me the
chance to bust a few more pileups and increase my contest scores.

My original plan was to move out of Murphy-Land when I retire, and then
shed my old 2-call for a new vanity call appropriate to my new location.
But a recent review of my log checking report from the CQWW phone contest
gave me serious concern about the number of DX stations that had busted my
call, which was dozens. I had long known that my old call was costing me DX
contacts, but now I started to realize that it might be costing my contest
points as well. So when this call became available, I applied for it, as
did 6 other hams, but the luck of the draw went in my favor this time.  Now
when I retire, and move back to the land of the free, I will be all set.

Please listen for me on the air, and note that when you hear K3TS, it is
Tony Starr, the former WA2FZB. 73.
