[GCARC] SSTV images from ISS recorded by W2MMD satellite station

Yeah - the signal from the Russian transmitter on the ISS seems significantly stronger than the American rig when the latter was operating. The American rig was running APRS, but the signals were only readable mid-pass on higher-elevation passes. The Russian SSTV signals were readable AOS to LOS. The American station currently isn't operational, but a new rig is planned to be installed next year. See http://www.ariss.org/ for more info.

Just for fun, I decided to see how well I could hear the ISS with my HT.
I hooked up a 4 element hand held yagi and the signal was so strong that it didn't seem to matter where I pointed the antenna, full scale on the meter. So I then tried putting the regular "rubber duck" antenna on and still got full scale meter readings no matter how I oriented the antenna. Very surprising indeed!
