[GCARC] W2MMD Special Event Station and Petty Island Update

Hi All,
    The following information is provided to bring everybody up-to-date on our Special Event Station and Petty Island 

        We will not be able to obtain permission to get on Petty Island until next year for a full activation of the island.  However, before an Island can be activated it must first be Qualified under the rules of the U.S. Islands Awards Program.  The Audubon Society has agreed to allow us access for a short period of time (approximately 6 hours) this year in order to Qualify the Island, which entails making a minimum of 25 contacts including 2 DXCC entities.  We will be sending in a STRIKE Team to due the Qualification of the Island, one transmitter operating 20 and 40 Meters   However, for this year we are also planning on a full scale operation at another location,which will be determined at a later date.  The following people have agreed to be Band Chairman for that event:

        If anyone else is interested in being a Band Chairman for any of the remaining bands, please let me know and we will be more than happy to put you on the list.  


If anyone is interested in operating one or more of the bands, please contact the appropriate Band Chairman to get on the list.
