Actually, it is a RJ12 and must have 6 pins, on each hand, for it to work with the transceiver.

Bruce, Mark my Yaesu radio has the same setup RJ11 connectors on both ends but it has Six(6) conductors instead of the typical four(4) that you find on a phone cable. I don’t know if the radio uses all six.
