Hi all,
Do we still have an Internet wifi set up out at the Club House that we can use for FD stations?
Just wondering as I am beginning to prepare for FD.
As a backup, many of us have an Internet source for the FD laptop that perhaps you haven't thought of.
If you have a newer phone with unlimited data from your cell provider, it probably has a tethering/hotspot feature.
I just tested mine. It works great and laptop connected to it right away. Your cell phone wifi hotspot appears as a network on your laptop wifi list. You then connect to it like any other wifi source. I can surf the web, but more importantly for FD it provides the telnet gateway to connect to your favorite cluster node. Some ops don't like to call CQ so having a bandmap full of active stations from the cluster becomes a great resource. Assuming you have rig control set up, you just click on the spot in N1MM+ and it will take to that frequency.
