Good Morning All,
With the upgrade in the firmware for the DV Mega, one now has the capability to work all three of the digital voice modes (DMR, Fusion and DStar) using the same hotspot. One can use the DV Mega in conjunction with the BlueStack, http://www.blue-stack.co.uk/ but you need a connected computer, or Android phone, to operate the system in the same manner as the DV4mini. Or one can use Pi-Star http://www.mw0mwz.co.uk/pi-star/ which I have loaded into my Raspberry Pi. Pi-Star unlike the other 3 in 1 solutions is totally headless (no monitor, no keyboard required) and behaves like any other public repeater. Configure it once and you are good to go for all three modes. To configure, the first time one needs to be ethernet connected to a PC. Other future changes, if necessary, or if you actually want to monitor activity on the node can be viewed on your browser using the IP address of the Pi (no wires). There are other products such as the Shark RF OpenSpot which does, basically, the same thing but require connection to a computer to switch modes. The OpenSpot also allows one to operate DMR mode using a Yaesu Fusion radio. Pi-Star can not do that at present. If anyone wants an image, for their Pi, just bring a 16GB micro SD card to the meeting and we will exchange cards. Let me know.
Now you can have your own private repeater, in your house, that will access all 3 of the major Digital Voice modes.
