On June 3rd the Gloucester County Amateur Radio Club will host two
licensing cram sessions. The morning session will prepare candidates that
do not currently have an Amateur Radio license to pass the Element 2 exam.
In the afternoon there will be a similar session designed to prepare
candidates that have their a Technician license to pass the Element 3 exam
to upgrade their license to a General Class license.
In each session a selected a subset of the question pool will be used as
course material. The idea is to go over the questions most likely to appear
on an exam with a focus on the correct answers only. By reviewing this
material immediately prior to the exam, the candidate is more likely to
recognize the correct answer to the exam question regardless of their prior
experience with the subject material.
As instructors, it is not necessary to have a working knowledge of the
material but rather a desire to help administer the material to the
candidates. While it is true that one instructor can administer the entire
class, candidates typically respond positively when there is a periodic
change in the delivery of the material (instructor). Ideally, with enough
instructors, there would be a change every forty-five minutes or so. If you
can read questions and answers, have some time available, and would like to
help others enter our hobby or upgrade their license in order to more fully
access all this great hobby has to offer we would welcome your
participation in this endeavor.
Volunteers may work either or both sessions. June 3rd is only forty-two
days away and we need to staff both sessions in order to allow the
candidates an opportunity to earn their licenses or upgrade at the cram
sessions.
If you would be willing to volunteer for one or both sessions, please
contact either Urb or me, directly. Thank you for your consideration in
this matter.
Best regards,
Harry
