We sure lucked out with the weather for the GCARC Hamfest, didn't we?
And it showed in the turnout!
How good did we do?
Well, come on out to the club meeting this Wednesday to find out!
We also have a special guest speaker for the evening, Urb LeJuene, W1UL.
Perhaps controversial, perhaps a blessing - come the the meeting, and you
make the call.
If there is a reason you have been putting off your license upgrade, you've
got to hear what he has to say. To stimulate the conversation, please see
sample testimonials later in this email, copied from Urb's web site.
At the club meeting, we will also be previewing this Fall's Foxhunt IX,
which Kicks off Saturday October 22 @ 1300 hours on the 147.180 MHz
repeater. Form your driving teams! This is an educational and fun for the
whole family!
Under new business, nominations for 2017 club officers will open, with
nominations accepted at both the October and November club meetings.
With the relocation of our hospitality chair, like last month, if you have
any munchies to bring and share, they would be most appreciated.
As always, guests and visitors are welcome at our club meetings and events.
Hope to see you at the Pfeiffer center 7:30 pm this Wednesday!

Sample Testimonials, for W1UL's study methods.
So, what do you think?
Studying and remembering technical material is very difficult for me. I had
previously failed the Technician exam twice. Using the W1UL ham cram
website I easily passed the Technician class license. Thanks Urb, Dave

The Ham-Cam.com website was instrumental in obtaining my Technician
License. Very detailed oriented and specific to the required needs. The
best site I have ever used, Â direct, specific, and most importantly
RELEVANT to the the examination. I wish everything was this easy. I
recommend it to anyone that would like to obtain their license. It is so
user friendly that it has motivated me to study for my General and Extra
Licenses. Mario KD2LHS
My Father KD2IZU passed away this morning. One of the highlights of his
final year was getting his ham license again, and given his mental and
physical shortcomings from his illnesses this was quite an accomplishment.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the part you and your study
techniques played in making this happen. 73 Carol KD2DLY
I had been one of "those" stalwart perpetual Advanced Class ops since the
70's, I pondered the situation - and with Time and Testing opportunities
rapidly running out, I went to the ham cram website and invested a little
time, and the following Sunday, sat and wrote the Exam - I was very
disappointed - I was the first one done, and the three (local) VE's pour
over it, scowling - finally one winked, gave me a thumbs up, and held up
his index finger..... one missed and I am fairly sure, that may have been a
dyslexic error :-) Kudo's to Urb, and thanks for the motivating "push" -
it's not that I can't and don't want to learn more new Technology I am just
not interested in it, CW is the only Digital Mode for me, and at present,
my only mode. Thank You, Urb.You made passing the extra test so easy I feel
kinda guilty, but I will get over it, especially with each excursion below
