Dear GCARC members - saddle up for some radio direction fun Saturday
morning!
Get in your cars and get out there!
Saturday morning, Mr. Bill Price nj2s will activate the hidden foxhunt
transmitter and we have to find it.
He says he is having breakfast at the 7 Star Diner (at the intersection of
Route 47 and Egg Harbor Rd) from around 9am (traditionally, go straight
towards the back on the left when you come in to find us at a round table,
and then the hunt begins at 10am.
Is that a clue Bill?
That's where I'll be starting from. How about all the hunters meet up in
the parking lot there to start? You know, to get an eye on the competition,
so to speak.
We don't do these hunts that often. Come out and have some fun! This is a
family friendly event - "kids" of all ages can help listen with you help to
home-in on the hidden transmitter. It's actually best when you can have
someone else drive for you while fiddling with your maps and radios.
The more per car the merrier!
Bill will take check-ins on our 2Meter repeater starting at 10am to know
who is hunting (check-in so he knows if anyone is lost and hunting after an
hour before he starts giving us better clues).
Trash talking encouraged?
The transmitter will be on the air on the standard fox hunt frequency of
146.565 Mhz FM. When you get close, you can probably also hear it on
439.695 Mhz (the 3rd harmonic).
