Good morning GCARC!
We're now just a couple of days away from Field Day 2016, and here is a
brief update.

A few stations will begin to setup on Friday. The rest are expected to
finish setup on Saturday morning, to be ready to commence operations at 2pm
local time Saturday afternoon. N3FJP field day logger is preferred for
stations, but most any electronic logging program that can allow us to
collect your log electronically for submission will be acceptable. See Al
for the w2mmd password, if need it. For the band chairmen and operators -
Please be sure to have BAND and MODE (CW, SSB, DIGITAL) set correctly for
your contacts - that has been a problem from at least one of the CW
stations in the past. The logs will be electronically uploaded to the ARRL
for field day checking.

About a half dozen Scouts from Troop 289 and parents will be arriving for
an educational program to be conducted in our clubhouse around 3pm
Saturday. If you are assisting with the information booth, please help
direct them to available parking and to our clubhouse. As previously
announced, there is another even going on that day at the 4H fairgrounds,
so it will be busy there.

Scout troop 9 had planned to camp out with us overnight, but has had to
cancel last minute. That temporarily leaves us without a Get On The Air
(GOTA) station.
Would someone be willing to set one up that could be operated from under
the canopy at our Information Table that Bart and Michael will be setting
up near the main entrance to our property? The pine tree there could offer
a simple hoist for a simple sloping wire antenna. Please let me, and our
field day chairman Al know, via email, if you will.
The points bonus structure for how to log entries with the GOTA station are
explained, with other rules, in this packet:

The group photo we had planned for 5pm, is now being advanced to 4:00pm, so
that there is an opportunity to include a few of the scouts from Troop 289
to be in the picture with us as well. We'll congregate in the shade of the
pine trees near our Field Day information table.

And we do now have an elected official invited who will be visiting our
site. Thank you!

Al and I will have another update as we get a little closer.

The weather is looking to be very good.
Fire up for Field Day!

Hope to see you all there,
Jim
