Dear GCARC members,
This Saturday morning is GCARC morning!
  8am- 9am Fox Hunt
9am - noon Tech Saturday at the Clubhouse

Both are clubhouse-centered events.
Hope to see you at one or both events!

For the hidden transmitter hunt (fox hunt), please check-in with me around
8am on our club's 2meter repeater (listen on 147.180, tx with pl tone
131.8). That way, I'll know who is hunting, and I can give you any last
minute hints.
Then we'll start the hunt, with good luck to all in homing in on the hidden
transmitter!
Transmitter frequency: 146.565 MHz (FM). It transmits a warbling pattern
for a bit, then in tone sends out our W2MMD callsign in Morse Code, and
then goes silent for a bit, before repeating.
To narrow down your search, here's a clue:
If you put a pin on a map, centered on our clubhouse, and drew a 3 mile
radius circle around our clubhouse, the hidden transmitter will be located
within that circle. It's like playing "warmer/colder": If you're far from
it, you might not hear it all all. When you get close, you'll hear it real
good. When get real close, you might want to switch to 439.695 MHz (the
third harmonic) or off-tune from that frequency a little bit to make the
received signal not quite so strong to be able to home in on it some more.
Afterwards, we will meet up at the clubhouse to exchange hunt stories.
Good luck radio fox hunters!

For the Tech Saturday, doors open around 9am, and will stay open most of
the morning. Just drop on by for some socializing, and feel free to ask any
radio questions you might have. Have any projects you want to show off? You
can bring them too. Visitors welcome!

Hope to see you at one or both events this Saturday morning,
Jim, n2gxj
