Good Evening All,
As an HOA restricted, attic farm antenna ham, I am always looking for a better way. I have been searching for a magnetic loop solution. This guy, VE3UK, is selling his prototype on eBay but. as a prototype model, it has no remote controlling electronics http://www.ebay.com/itm/201322636698?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT . Up until now, one only had two out of the box choices, to my knowledge, for magloops and they were the MFJ 1788 or 1786 or the Russian Ham in England http://mixw.co.uk/MagLoop/magloop.htm . But neither of those models can operate over 400 watts at the most. This one claims to be operable at 1KW. The actual production model, if it becomes reality, will be called the "Thunderbolt" More information can be found at http://www.magloop.com/ .

Subject: Thank You [MagLoop]
Welcome, You are now "in the Loop"
Or, as Robert De Niro who played Retired CIA agent Jack Burns in the movie Meet The Parents said, "In the Circle of Trust".
That being said, thank you for showing interest in my work, and more specifically my version of the magnetic loop antenna, The MagLoop.
I first became a licensed amateur radio operator at the age of 12 in 1978. Back then my family lived in an antenna prohibited subdivision, not something any "serious" operator would like to be faced with. So being excited about radio, I began experimenting with small antennas.
Today, I live in a home with an above average sized lot, and I have zero restrictions on the kind of antenna that I can have, within reason of course. I currently have a 60 foot tower, with a VHF/UHF vertical on top, and a 160/80 sloper hung from it as well. In addition I have two magnetic loop antennas in the attic of my home, that is it.
You may be thinking that with a rather large lot, and no antenna restrictions, why would I even bother with Magnetic Loop antennas?
Well the answers are multifaceted, yet simple.
1) They Work Great, as good if not better than any dipole or vertical I've used
2) They work Great only 4 feet above the ground
3) They work Great without any radial system or good conductive ground
4) They work Great as an NVIS antenna for nets and "local" rag chews
5) They work Great as a low angle radiating antenna for DX
6) They work Great as a first line bandpass filter, eliminating local QRM etc
7) They have continuous multi-band coverage
9) They are small and easy to hide and store
9) They deploy in minutes for portable operation, whether on my patio or in the field
10) They are stout and will outlast any other antenna in the rain, wind and ice.
11) Oh, did I mention they work great! Okay, I will stop at 11, just for now...
Magnetic loop antennas are my passion, I love these so misunderstood, and largely unknown antenna systems. I am committed to magnetic loops largely because of how incredibly well they perform. For many many years I snubbed them, chalked them up to being a gimmick, or at best a severely compromised antenna, not much better than a dummy load. Oh, how wrong I was!
In the coming days and weeks I will be providing you with updates and further information on the current status of the MagLoop line of magnetic loop antennas.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via email at Bob at MagLoop.com or by phone at (248)247-5937. I will do my best to answer any and all questions that you may have. I also welcome any and all suggestions.
Respectfully yours,
Bob
