Message-ID: First off, Happy 2015 to you all, and Thank you all, for this list! Secondly, I'd like to ask a serious proceedural question. Does it violate either "the spirit," or "the letter," of the list, for a list member to post requests for items which are needed to either repair or otherwise complete a particular ham radio or related project? I ask, because, several years ago, when I 1, needed a hand mic for a radio I'd been given, 2, posted that need on list, 3, was graciously offered one, 4, subsequently _Thankfully obtained the mic and enjoyed the radio greatly! 5, (However, ere was at least one, and there may have been more than one, negative responses on list, to my "need request," being posted to the list. 6, I'm currently seeking parts, for 3, receivers and 1 HT in my collection. 7, I've posted to several sale and or swap lists, in search of either parts or parts radios, for which, I'm more than willing to pay a fair price!/And, 8, I do realize that "fair price, is a somewhat subjective definition 9, So far, no such prices for these items are in sight! 10, Most, if not all of us, when in search of something, are willing to A, pay a fair cash price for it, B, Swap something for it, or C, Receive it as a gift from one who no longer wants it. 11, And In Any case, the item won't change hands unless the "seeker seeks, and the offerer offers. 12, Please let me know how to best proceed, that the list may function at its' best!! So far as I know, no one have ever been chastised for looking for a "wanted item ". It seems, as long as you're working with a "FreeBay" concept, postings can go either way. 73 <> Carl At 10:25 PM 1/21/2015, you wrote: >First off, Happy 2015 to you all, and Thank you all, for this list! >Secondly, I'd like to ask a serious proceedural question. >Does it violate either "the spirit," or "the letter," of the list, >for a list member to post requests for items which are needed to >either repair or otherwise complete a particular ham radio or related project? >I ask, because, >several years ago, when I >1, needed a hand mic for a radio I'd been given, >2, posted that need on list, >3, was graciously offered one, >4, subsequently _Thankfully obtained the mic and enjoyed the radio greatly! >5, (However, ere was at least one, and there may have been more than >one, negative responses on list, to my "need request," being posted >to the list. >6, I'm currently seeking parts, for 3, receivers and 1 HT in my collection. >7, I've posted to several sale and or swap lists, in search of >either parts or parts radios, for which, I'm more than willing to >pay a fair price!/And, >8, I do realize that "fair price, is a somewhat subjective definition >9, So far, no such prices for these items are in sight! >10, Most, if not all of us, >when in search of something, >are willing to >A, pay a fair cash price for it, >B, Swap something for it, >or C, Receive it as a gift from one who no longer wants it. >11, And In Any case, the item won't change hands unless the "seeker >seeks, and the offerer offers. >12, Please let me know how to best proceed, that the list may >function at its' best!! >And a Sincere Thanks To All Of You_ For All You Are And All You Do! >And Thanks For This List!!! >Sincerely, Danny Dyer, Wb4idu, >Toccoa, GA, USA. >______________________________________________________________ >FreeBay mailing list >Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/freebay >Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm >Post: mailto:FreeBay at mailman.qth.net > >This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net >Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html From dougy at ruraltel.net Sat Jan 24 21:04:17 2015 From: dougy at ruraltel.net (Doug Younker) Date: Sat, 24 Jan 2015 20:04:17 -0600 Subject: [FreeBay] Sincere Question About Posting Messages for "needed items?" In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <54C44F21.9050706@ruraltel.net> Hello Danny; The only rule that could be considered as such would be at the listing of mail list. The description field for Freebay is simply " Things are free here!" I can't recall a periodic posting of list guidelines here, and while I did look at every month available in the archives, no random peek did show a month with such a topic.. While requests that include a willingness to pay for an item wouldn't bother me, but the opinion that really counts is the one who runs the list whose email is listed as freebay-owner at mailman.qth.net . Perhaps *ForSale-Swap -- Buy, Sell, and Trade Ham Radio Equipment *is the better list to use. Click on directory of lists at http://mailman.qth.net/ to find it . This only my opinion nothing worse for a list than a debate of opinions, this is my only post on the topic. 73 N0LKK > First off, Happy 2015 to you all, and Thank you all, for this list! > Secondly, I'd like to ask a serious proceedural question. > Does it violate either "the spirit," or "the letter," of the list, > for a list member to post requests for items which are needed to either repair or otherwise complete a particular ham radio or related project? > [snipped] > Sincerely, Danny Dyer, Wb4idu, > Toccoa, GA, USA. >
