Good for the guy who can fix things!

I was given this item and planned to fix it then use
it. But I'm having to do a once-in-five-years major
household consolidation, and things that haven't been
used/touched in over a year are going away.

This is a Logitec "Corless Freedom" headset with boom
mic. It's intended for use with computers, but I was
planning to use it with my SSB transceiver. I figured
I'd set the rig to VOX, and be able to chat with pals
whilst raking leaves, etc. It has a separate 1/8"
plug for the microphone and headphone part. The
headphone section is one-sided - left or right ear.
You wear the actual transceiver (900 MHz) on your
belt, with the headset plugged into it.

You can see a photo and some specs at:

Now, here's the malfunction:

Evidently, these things have been sitting in stock for
so long that the internal NiCad batteries have all
failed. The chap who gave it to me tried it, and it
failed to operated. He snagged the battery from his
corless phone, and plugged that battery in - and as
soon as he did so, a resistor on a PC board went up in
smoke! Turns out that the two batteries use the same
connector, but the cordless phone battery has opposite
polarity. Most likely, this resistor and possibly the
reverse-protection diode are all that's wrong, and of
course, it still needs a battery (common three-cell
arrangement).

For the cost of shipping from me (95404) to you for
four pounds, you'll get the whole thing, as delivered
to me. All parts, phone disassembled, and the manual,
what few pages it is.

Will be posting more stuff here as I clear out the
excess inventory.

73,

Dave W8NF
