FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES - 4/13/2011
The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was chaired by President, Kevin Walker, W4KKW. Attendance was 21. Visiting was KK4AOJ.

TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed after motion by Kurt, W4KFH, and seconded by Steve, N4SGL.

President Kevin Walker, W4KKW, asked for comments about the SKYWARN class that took place at the March meeting. All thought it was excellent this time. The same class will be held at the PSLARA club meeting in April.

Kevin, W4KKW, said that John, W8RAT, picked up, at the Orlando Hamfest, the fans needed for the repeaters and link radios.

There was no news about incorporating our club.

Kevin, W4KKW, asked about the MCARA Stuart HAMFEST. All thought it was another great event. Kevin reminded everyone that help is appreciated for set-up and tear-down of club booths for such events.

FIELD DAY, June 25 & 26: : Kevin, W4KKW, asked Steve, N4SGL, to tell about Steve's idea to have the FPARC and PSLARA clubs combine for FIELD DAY this year for a St. Lucie EOC ARES event, using the W4SLC callsign. Steve told of the need for more amateurs to be involved with ARES for shelter ops. He hopes to hold this Field Day event at a high visibility location that will result in more public visitation, and then maybe new amateurs and ARES members. Kurt, W4KFH, made a motion for FPARC to participate in the SLC EOC ARES Field Day event. John, W8RAT, seconded the motion and after quite some discussion, it passed. Steve asked for three members from FPARC and PLSARA to form a Field Day committee. Harry, KJ4SRY, Harold, N3UY, and Don, W4KTD agreed to volunteer. Gig, WB4NOZ, said that we need to have our amateur radio events publicized in the local media. Rocky, KI4UUT, suggested that the FPARC and PSLARA clubs consider joining for breakfast some weekend morning. Martha suggested trying to get scouts involved in amateur radio and Field Day.

Steve, N4SGL, asked for a head count of ARRL members and said that in May the ARRL will have a special membership price for new amateurs and those not members for a few years. If they join at the club meeting, for $29, the club gets $5.
