FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES - 6/8/2011
The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was chaired by Vice President Don Starr, W4KTD. Attendance was 29. Visitors were John Wolfhagen, Johnnie Wolfhagen, Patty Schmelz, and Heath.
MINUTES: The minutes of the May meeting were approved as distributed, after motion by Steve, N4SGL, and seconded by Harry, KJ4SRY.
TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI was absent, but sent his report and it was approved as distributed after motion by Kurt, W4KFH, and seconded by John, W8RAT.
FIELD DAY: Don, W4KTD, said that 2 tires were replaced on the club's tower trailer. The cost is $140.47. Kurt, W4KFH, made a motion to authorize the tire bill. Jack, K4JAK, seconded the motion and it passed.
Steve, N4SGL, described and told about the idea behind our club joining with the Port St. Lucie Club to support a St. Lucie EOC ARES Field Day event to be held at Tradition in Southwest PSL. Steve said this year we are selling meal tickets for Saturday lunch and dinner ahead of time. This will help Carl, KF4KCI, plan his meals and save both clubs money.
Kurt, W4KFH, told about the layout of the FD site on a 500ft by 800ft grass commercial building lot and the plans for operating positions. He said he expects several vehicles including the EOC's CSV and EDICS trailer, IRSC's CERT bus and trailer, and the FPARC tower trailer. Don, W4KTD, said that Bruce, W8HW, and Jodie, W4SLD, both of the Port St. Lucie Club, spent a few days tuning and testing the 2 FPARC HF beams. Kurt said that he would like as many as can, to sign-up ahead of time for operating times.
HAMFEST: We discussed printing and sending of Hamfest flyers, post cards, and tickets, and possible vendors.
We will have a goodbye dinner gathering for John, W8RAT, and Gail. K4LOL, Thursday, 7pm, June 16 at Golden Corral Restaurant in Fort Pierce. John and Gail will be moving to Alabama the following week.
John, W8RAT, made a motion to pay 1/2 of the bill in the amount of $76 for a plaque and dinner for Greg Bunting, KB4VVE's retirement party. Harry, KJ4SRY, seconded the motion and it passed.
Kevin, W4KKW, told of Archie Hamm, AD3N, donating his 2 repeaters to the club. John, W8RAT, took down Archie's antennas and tower, with help from Gail, K4LOL, Don, W4KTD, and Pete, KD4SPW. Kevin suggested and asked the club to extend to Archie a lifetime membership to the club. Steve, N4SGL, made a motion to do so, Jack, K4JAK, seconded and it passed.
John, W8RAT, said how much he has enjoyed being a member of the Fort Pierce Radio Club.
Pete, KD4SPW, reminded the group that it has been a year since our friend and President Art Lindell, W4ZEF, passed away. The anniversary of Art's death was the past Sunday June 5. Jenny Lindell, K4ZEF, joined us this meeting along with Alan, now W4ZEF, Patty, Steve, KJ4OSM, and grand-children Anabelle Lindell and Carlee Rose Schmelz. Pete said that Art's presence in the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club and St. Lucie County will be missed for a very long time.
Harry, KJ4SRY, and Martha brought a cake for after the meeting to honor John, W8RAT, and Gail, K4LOL.
