[FPARC] MINUTES OF JANUARY MEETING

        FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES - 1/12/2011
 
      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was chaired by President, Kevin Walker, W4KKW. Attendance was 20. Visiting was Steve, KE4LJH.
 
      TREASURY AND MINUTES: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report and the corrected minutes of the November meeting were approved as distributed after motion by Keith, W4RPE, and seconded by Gail, K4LOL.
 
      Carl, W7RCW, said that the club sent flowers to Jenny Lindell, K4ZEF, after her mom passed away in December.

 
      President Kevin Walker, W4KKW, started a discussion about our Christmas social at Carl, W7RCW, and Betty's home. Everyone agreed it was great and thanked Carl.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, reminded us of Jeff Beals, WA4AW, telling us at the November meeting about some of the benefits of having our club incorporated. 
      We discussed the issue and Steve, N4SGL, and Carl, W7RCW, agreed to check into our club becoming incorporated.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, said that we still need a 4" muffin fan for the repeater, 12 volt preferably or 120 volt.
 
      Ted, W4ZE, told us that Jeff Beals, WA4AW, lost his bid for election as Vice Director, but has been appointed to the position of Assistant Section Manager under David Fowler, K4DLF.
      Ted said that the ARRL S.FL. Convention is in Fort Myers this weekend.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, thanked Keith Wood, W4RPE, for his many years of service to the club as Vice President.
 
      ORLANDO HAMFEST: Kevin, W4KKW, said to meet here at the IRSC parking lot Saturday morning if anyone wants to carpool or caravan to the Orlando Hamfest. Carl, W7RCW, mentioned that some members will be camping at the Hamfest and that he has been hosting a club lunch there in past years and asked about this year. Kurt, W4KFH, made a motion to spend up to $150 for an Orlando Hamfest Campground Luncheon. Harry, KJ4SRY, seconded the motion and it passed.
 
      John, W8RAT, said that he spoke about VOIP at the SouthCars meeting in Lakeland the previous weekend that was attended by over 60 SCARS members. Kevin, W4KKW, said that our club was one of the first to support the SCARS VOIP Net by linking up our repeater.
 
      Carl, W7RCW, told about the St. Lucie Repeater Assoc. and about how valuable their repeater is and has been to the local regional Amateur Radio community. He asked that each of us consider supporting the SLRA financially. Steve, N4SGL, made a motion that the FPARC donate $300 to the St. Lucie Repeater Assoc. Gig, WB4NOZ, seconded the motion and it passed.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, said that we still need Net Control Operators for the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays Nets. Don, W4KTD, agreed to do the 1st. Harry, KJ4SRY, said that he will try the 3rd. Steve, N4SGL, said that he can be a substitute.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, said that Butch, KA2ELX, will have to step down from running the club's V.E. Test Sessions, as he has purchased a small ranch and will not be able to make many evening meetings.
