[FPARC] MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER MEETING

      FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  9/8/2010
 
      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was chaired by Vice President, Keith Wood, W4RPE.  Attendance was 17. Visiting was Dan Davis.
 
      MINUTES: The minutes of the August meeting were approved as distributed, after motion by Steve, N4SGL, and seconded by John, W8RAT.
 
      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI, distributed his monthly report and discussed his Hamfest finances report. His reports were approved after motion by Kurt, W4KFH, and seconded by John, W8RAT.
   
      HAMFEST: We discussed the Hamfest. Kurt, W4KFH, suggested that we get Hamfest flyers and tickets completed and available for distribution earlier. Pete, KD4SPW, said that we need to create an e-mail and address Hamfest database. Ted, W4ZE, said that there is an ARRL electronic database that may be helpful. Gig, WB4NOZ, suggested that at our Hamfest, those attendees that give us their address and e-mail be entered in a special prize drawing.
 
      ELECTION FOR PRESIDENT: Vice President Keith, W4RPE, opened the floor for nominations for President to succeed Art Lindell, W4ZEF. We discussed how to handle the election. We had planned to hold the election this meeting. It was suggested that we ask for those willing to be President. It was discussed that we postpone elections to a later meeting and solicit members willing to be President. Ted, W4ZE nominated Kevin Walker, W4KKW. Kurt Hoyer, W4KFH, and Don Starr, said that they would be willing to run. Carl, W7RCW, said that our core group of active members is here tonight and that it is unlikely that we will find anyone else to run for President. Rocky, KI4UUT, said that Ray Stilwell, WA4MLD, might be willing to run for President, but will be out of town still for awhile.
      Kurt, W4KFH, made a motion to postpone the election for President until the November meeting and hold elections for all offices at that time, with the terms taking effect in January. Rocky, KI4UUT, seconded the motion and after discussion, it passed.
      We discussed holding each election separately, so that those candidates not elected would be available for the other offices. Carl, W7RCW, suggested that for each election, the three other officers tally the votes. Kurt, W4KFH, suggested that each net control announce that nominations are open and elections will be held in November. 
 
      V. E. TESTING: Butch, KA2ELX, said that there were no testers at the last session.
 
      Keith, W4RPE, told about his upcoming birthday party.
