                       FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  10/13/2010
 
      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was chaired by Vice President Keith Wood, W4RPE. Attendance was 16.
 
      MINUTES: The minutes of the September meeting were approved as distributed, after motion by John, W8RAT, and seconded by Jack, K4JAK.
 
      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed after motion by John, W8RAT, and seconded by Jack, K4JAK.
 
 
      Vice President Keith Wood started a discussion about Officer Elections to be held during the November meeting. He said that nominations so far for President are: Kevin Walker, W4KKW, Kurt Hoyer, W4KFH, and Don Starr, W4KTD, and asked if there were any new nominations from the floor. There were none.
 
      Kurt, W4KFH, reminded everyone that the ARRL Southeastern Division elections are taking place and suggested everyone vote. He put in a plug for local amateurs Sherri Brower, W4STB, for Division Director and Jeff Beals, WA4AW, for Division Vice Director.
       Kurt, W4KFH, told how nice the Melbourne Hamfest was, including the weather.
 
      Carl, W7RCW, said that if we want to hold our December Christmas Social at his and Betty’s home, it will have to be Saturday December 4, 2010. Kevin, W4KKW made a motion to hold the social that day at Carl’s house. John, W8RAT, seconded the motion and it passed. The Club Social will be held in lieu of a monthly meeting.
 
      Carl, W7RCW, started a discussion about our club donation to WQCS and or the Presidents Scholarship Fund. We discussed that the $5 increase in our dues gets earmarked for WQCS and then the club makes up the difference to $300. Rocky, KI4UUT, made a motion to give $300 to WQCS and $250 to the Presidents Scholarship Fund. Kevin, W4KKW, seconded the motion and it passed.
 
      Carl, W7RCW, said that he received a letter from our club bank, PNC, wanting a tax ID number with certification. We discussed the need for a tax ID number and/or incorporating the club. Kevin, W4KKW, made a motion to have a committee of Kevin, W4KKW, Rocky, KI4UUT, and Carl, W7RCW look into our options. Rocky seconded the motion and it passed. Carl said he would ask an attorney friend about the issue.
 
      Butch, KA2ELX, said that there were no testers at the last VE Test Session. He reminded us that there will be no testing in November or December.
 
      Jack, K4JAK, told of the upcoming SOUTHCARS Extra Class licensing class starting November 7th. He said that the class is held Sunday and Tuesday at 7pm.
 
      Carl, W7RCW, said that he will be having a tower raising party at his place this Saturday starting about 8am. John, W8RAT, will be installing 2 of his RAZERS. Carl said that he will have lunch for the group.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, said that there is a problem with an Echolink link radio. He said that it seems to stop transmitting after about a minute. He suggested that until the radio is fixed, that we keep transmissions to under a minute.
