                FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  4/9/2008

      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was
chaired by President, Art Lindell, W4ZEF.  Attendance was 29. Visitors were
Henry, KI4UAV, John, KD7ZWR, and Bill Mowery.

      MINUTES: The minutes of the March meeting were approved as
distributed, after motion by Paul, KG4MCE, seconded by Herb, W1QPD.

      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed
after motion by Paul, KG4MCE, seconded by Herb, W1QPD.

      President Art, W4ZEF, said that we would have a short business meeting
tonight followed by a Demo by Bruce, W8HW, about HF Digital Modes.

      Art, W4ZEF, passed around the certificate awarded to our club by the
Southcars Echolink Net, for having the most check-ins for the month.

      PACKET: Art, W4ZEF, said that we still need a different UPS at the EOC
for the Packet computer. He said we had an EOC work day that included some
antenna work and Ernie, AJ4BP, worked on some Link radios. Greg, KB4VVE,
said that we now have an IP address for the Packet system at the EOC. Greg
asked if we are going to plan a pre- Field Day work day at the EOC,
involving antennas and trailers. Art said that we will have to work on the
trailers in the future after Field Day.

      Art, W4ZEF, asked about the radio testing Demo program at the last
meeting, since he left early. Ernie, AJ4BP, said that they only tested one
radio.

      Pete, KD4SPW, passed around the present list for shirt and hat orders.
At this time we have 8 shirts on the list, but we need 12 to place an order.

      Kevin, W4KKW, said that our club PAYPAL account is still in the works.
They are having some banking issues. We had some more discussion about
whether or not we needed to incorporate. We don’t.

      STUART HAMFEST: We had a nice time at the event, although it was a low
turn out of amateurs this year. Our club was represented very well. We had a
club table set up and Gig, WB4NOZ, brought donations that netted the club
$10.
      Art, W4ZEF, said we will have to anticipate a decline in attendance
for our upcoming Hamfest in August. Art said it may be even worse for us as
gas is expected to be near $4 per gallon this summer.

      Next month’s meeting will concern Field Day.
