                 FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  6/11/2008

      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was
chaired by President, Art Lindell, W4ZEF.  Attendance was 18.  All are
members.

      MINUTES: The minutes of the May meeting were approved as distributed,
after motion by Paul, KG4MCE, seconded by Greg, KB4VVE.

      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI was absent this meeting, so no
report.

      FIELD DAY: Art, W4ZEF, asked Greg, KB4VVE, if he was still going to
bring radio testing gear to Field Day. Greg said yes. We will only have one
big tent to use this year. The other has been ruined. Art said we can use 10
x 10 ft canopies as needed.

      PACKET: Art, W4ZEF, said that he will send out a Packet mail and an
e-mail with Packet updates from Wayne, KA1VRF.

      CLUB SHIRTS: Pete, KD4SPW, said he expects to have the latest shirt
order in time for Field Day, maybe even for next week’s EOC meeting.

      PAYPAL: Kevin, W4KKW, said that our club PayPal account has not been
completed.

      HAMFEST: Art, W4ZEF, said that he would like the Hamfest flyers to be
ready to assemble at Field Day. We discussed how much to spend on prizes and
what to buy. Some suggested HF radios, dual band radios, antenna analyzers,
and antennas. Rocky, KI4UUT, suggested the new Yaesu VX-8 as a prize. Kevin,
W4KKW, said that it should be available by August. Greg, KB4VVE, made a
motion to spend $625 on prizes, with the Hamfest committee to decide prizes,
including gasoline cards. Ernie, AJ4BP, seconded the motion and it passed.
We will discuss other Hamfest issues next meeting.

      Art, W4ZEF, said he would like the club to discuss purchasing a 10 x
10 ft. pop-up canopy. After some discussion, a motion was made by Kurt,
W4KFH, to spend about $200 for a 10 x 10 ft canopy for the club to own.
John, KT4VI, seconded the motion and it passed.

      FIELD DAY: Sherwin, KA9COD, will set up ATV, and a video of the some
of the Field Day happenings for broadcast later.

      Kevin, W4KKW, said that there is the possibility of a chance to have a
site in Port St. Lucie for a remote receiver for our repeaters. He said he
will explore the issue.

      The official meeting closed and Field Day planning continued.
