FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  01/09/2008



      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was
chaired by President, Art Lindell, W4ZEF.  Attendance was 19. Visiting was
Tim K4TCF.



      MINUTES: The minutes of the November meeting were approved as
distributed, after motion by Steve, N4SGL, seconded by Sherwin, KA9COD.



      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed
after motion by Ernie, AJ4BP, seconded by Paul, KG4MCE.



      Art, W4ZEF, passed around a letter of thanks from WQCS referring to
our club donation to the radio station.



      PACKET:  Art, W4ZEF, told of a Packet workday last Saturday at the
EOC. He said that everything has been installed and running with just a few
exceptions. He said one is to reposition the antenna to Okeechobee. Another
is to get the internet connection turned on. He said the system also needs
to a UPS battery back-up. Art described the system and invited the members
to use it. Pete, KD4SPW, offered a UPS that needs a new battery. Art asked
for a motion to purchase a new battery for that UPS. Greg, KB4VVE, made the
motion, Roger, K4RS, seconded, and it passed.

      Art, W4ZEF, also asked for a motion to buy a new 220 MHZ antenna for
the link to Okeechobee. Greg, KB4VVE, made the motion, Ernie, AJ4BP,
seconded, and it passed.

      Art, W4ZEF, said that we need another 20 amp power supply, as one
seems to be missing. Roger, K4RS, offered to donate one to the club. Thank
you Roger!



      MEMBERSHIP DUES: Art, W4ZEF, asked that we remind everyone that dues
are due.



      MEETING PROGRAMS: Art, W4ZEF, said that Wayne, KA1VRF, will do a
Packet demo at the February meeting. Ernie, AJ4BP, will bring a service
monitor to the March meeting. Members can bring radios to be checked out.
Greg, KB4VVE, said he will bring a monitor also. For the M      FIELD DAY:
Art, W4ZEF, asked for volunteers to be FIELD DAY CHAIRMEN. Ernie, AJ4BP, and
Paul, KG4MCE, agreed to be CO-CHAIRS again. Art said it is time to start
planning.

arch meeting, Bruce, W8HW, will demo PSK31. Art said we won’t have programs
from May through August due to Field Day and our Club Hamfest. Sherri,
W4STB, our ARRL SECTION MANAGER will do a program in September, possibly
including DX. Kevin, W4KKW, may do an IRLP/ECHOLINK demo in October. Art
expressed Kudos to Kevin for his great IRLP/ECHOLINK setup. The November
meeting is open and we normally don’t have a meeting in December because of
our Club Social. Art then expressed Kudos to Carl, KF4KCI, and Betty for
another great Christmas social at their home.



      Greg, KB4VVE, said that the service monitor at the EOC Dog House is
available for more in-depth testing and tuning. He also said he wants to
have an EOC workday to clean up and make room to set up an HF rig in the EOC
Dog House. We discussed possibly having a Club Social and workday at the EOC
sometime.





      CLUB SHIRTS: We discussed changing our shirt style to a button-up or
continuing with a pocket polo like we now have. We also discussed having an
embroidered Club Logo or an embroidered Club Logo Patch. Sherwin, KA9COD,
checked with SOUTHERN STITCHES in PSL about our present color, JADE. They
found a supplier for JADE pocket polo. Our present shirt supplier won’t be
able to get them anymore. By show of hands, more members expressed interest
in keeping our present style. Kevin, W4KKW, made a motion to keep the same
color and style shirt and place the order with SOUTHERN STITCHES. Greg,
KB4VVE, seconded the motion, and it passed.



      Art, W4ZEF, asked which members were not receiving the YAHOO GROUP
Club e-mails. He wants to correct any problems.



      Art, W4ZEF, said we should discuss having another mid-year Club
Social.



      Art, W4ZEF, reminded us that the Orlando Hamfest is coming up. Carl,
KF4KCI, will BBQ Saturday at noon in the campground. Some will be camping
their.
