FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES - 4/11/2007
 
The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was
chaired by President, Art Lindell, W4ZEF. Attendance was 17. Visitors were
Steve Baublitz / W9SLB, Jim / W2JKD, Juan / KB0GXM.
 
MINUTES: The minutes of the March meeting were approved as distributed,
after motion by Bob, KC0KAC, seconded by Roger, K4RS.
 
TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed
after motion by Greg, KB4VVE, seconded by Herb, W1QPD.
 
REPEATER: Kevin, W4KKW, said no problems at this time.
 
CLUB ID CARDS: TJ showed a nice draft of a club ID card.
 
PACKET RADIO: Wayne, KA1VRF, was not present. Art, W4ZEF, said nothing new.
 
Art, W4ZEF, said we now have a new trailer box for our 2nd trailer at a cost
of $318.28.
 
FIELD DAY: Art, W4ZEF, said we need to set up a FIELD DAY antenna work day.
Greg, KB4VVE, said that an EOC work day is planned for this coming Saturday,
April 14th. Art said these work days need to be planned and announced by
e-mail at least one week, and preferably two weeks in advance. The
co-chairmen were absent this meeting, so no FIELD DAY discussion.
 
HAMFEST: Art, W4ZEF, asked if anyone is willing to be PIO (public
information officer), for the HAMFEST. Art said he would like to see someone
fill this position year-round. Art, asked how much do we want to spend this
year? We spent $650 on the main prizes last year. After discussion, Carl,
KF4KCI, made a motion to purchase the same main prizes as last year, KENWOOD
TMD-700A and MFJ-259B. He said Art, W4ZEF, should purchase them, and some
door prizes, at his discretion, looking for best price. Greg, KB4VVE,
seconded the motion and it passed.
Art, W4ZEF, said we need to get flyers sent out. Kevin, W4KKW, suggested we
send out postcards instead of flyers. We discussed sending postcards instead
of flyers. Postcards would require vendors to go to our website and download
flyers for registration and extra HAMFEST info. We discussed adding
additional HAMFEST info to what becomes the back of the flyers after they
are folded for mailing. The consensus was to send flyers again.
 
WEEKLY NETS: Art, W4ZEF, said that we need NCS’s (net control station) for
both the 1st and the 4th weekly club nets.
 
We had a lengthy discussion about our new YAHOO GROUPS e-mail list and
difficulties sight impaired members have joining.
 
Art, W4ZEF, said it is time to drop members that haven’t renewed from our
lists and put them on the non-active list. We had a discussion about
contacting members to entice them to renew. Kevin, W4KKW, discussed our club
having a PAYPAL account and links to PAYPAL on our websites for people to
renew memberships and join the club. Kevin made a motion to have our
webmaster look into and set up a PAYPAL link on our site. The motion failed
due to the lack of a second.
