FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES - 3/14/2007
 
The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was
chaired by President Art Lindell, W4ZEF. Attendance was 15. Visitors were
Bill, WB4RPV, and TJ Barnes.
 
MINUTES: The minutes of the February meeting were approved as distributed,
after motion by Paul, KG4MCE, and seconded by Ernie, KF4IHX.
 
TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed
after motion by Paul, KG4MCE, and seconded by Ernie, KF4IHX.
 
OLD BUSINESS
 
REPEATER: Art, W4ZEF, asked for a report about the repeaters. Kevin, W4KKW,
said that a strange software glitch occurred that affected the linking of
the repeaters to each other and the IRLP/ECHOLINK. Kevin said he reset the
program and it seems to be working fine. 
 
Art, W4ZEF, asked Greg, KB4VVE, if he knew when the EOC would be getting a
tower climb. Greg said no, he can’t estimate when.
 
Art, W4ZEF, asked TJ about ID cards. TJ said he should have a rough draft
for the next meeting. 
 
We discussed the list of Packet Radio items that needs to be added to the
list of FPARC insured equipment. We will insure the gear inside the Doghouse
 Greg, KB4VVE, said all the antennas and coax runs are covered by the EOC
insurance. Greg said that he will check on that. 
 
We discussed the call signs of the Packet Radio gear to be used at the EOC.
 
Art, W4ZEF, said that we need to purchase a new aluminum storage box for the
2nd club trailer and asked how much do we want to spend? Kevin, W4KKW, made
a motion to spend up to $300 for the trailer box. After discussion, the
motion was changed to allow Art, W4ZEF, to decide what to spend. The motion
was seconded and it passed.
 
Art, W4ZEF, said that we need to see about repairing the generator on the
club trailer. The generator tech at IRCC said it isn’t worth repairing.
Greg, KB4VVE, said we can check it out when we have an EOC work day, March
24th. 
 
FIELD DAY: The Field Day chairmen, Paul, KG4MCE, and Ernie, KF4IHX, started
a discussion about Field Day. 
 
HAMFEST: Art, W4ZEF, said the club needs a Public Relations person to
publicize our Hamfest. Art said he believes that we need to send out more
mailings this year. We discussed sending post cards this year. Art said that
if we do change our mailing, that we will have to do it very quickly.
 
Pete, KD4SPW, told about Ladd, W2KGV, moving to an assisted living facility.
Pete said that Ladd asked if we could help him sell his gear at the Stuart
Hamfest.
 
Pete, KD4SPW, told of the upcoming MARCH OF DIMES WALKAMERICA WALK-A-THON,
April 21st.
