Subject: Information for tonights FPARC meeting

Morning Art,
As I mentioned to you last night, would you please bring up the following to
the members
Of the FPARC this evening?

1) Skywarn Recognition Day: Operators needed
Date: December 1, 2006 @ 1900 hrs to December 2, 2006 @ 1900 hrs
Location: National Weather Service Office
421 Croton Rd.
Melbourne, Fl.
The Treasure Coast Weather Network has once again been invited to assist the
amateur radio operators of the NWS in Melbourne and the Brevard Skywarn
Group in operating the amateur radio stations of the NWS, WX4MLB during the
annual Skywarn Recognition Day.
This event is sponsored by the NWS and the ARRL and the purpose of this
event is to give the amateur community throughout the country and world the
opportunity to contact the participating NWS offices throughout the country.
Numerous modes of communications are being used/
This year from Melbourne we will be operating the vhf, uhf, hf and Echolink
modes and will be using voice, cw, rtty and psk.
In order to keep the stations on the air during this event we are in need of
operators. We are looking for volunteers who can operate for an hour, couple
hours half a day or the whole event. There is a particular need for cw
operators.
If interested please contact Wayne, KA1VRF at ka1vrf at bellsouth.net , during
the TCWN Net on Sunday evenings at 2100 hrs on the 146.775 repeater or call
at 772-569-8151 (Vero number).
This is a fun event for both the participating NWS offices as well as
amateurs throughout the world.
There are certificates that can be earned for participating at the NWS or
via the airwaves.
For further information about this years event please go to: http://www.crh
noaa.gov/hamradio/index.php or http://www.srh.noaa

2) The W4AKH-3 APRS system, located at the SLCEOC, has been reconfigured to
the suggestions that have been made by Bob Bruninga, WB4APR. The system is
not only
Digiting our own locations into the APRS system, but is also giving out the
frequency and tone for the FPARC 2 meter repeater which will help those who
maybe traveling through our area. For those of us who are using APRS, please
note that the Relay, Wide, Wide
Configuration is obsolete and we should be using wide1-1, wide2-1 or wide2-2
Please reconfigure your own systems with these new parameters. More
information about APRS
Will be forth coming once I have the 2 other systems (W4OT-3 and WX4MLB-3)
reconfigured to current standards

3) Finally, I need some help. A tower trailer has been donated to me by
KF4DQY, Chris and
A crank up tower has been donated by K4JC, Vince. I need a pivot bracket and
a bottom anchoring plate fabricated and welded to the tower so that this
setup can be functional as it had been in the past..
The purpose of this tower trailer is for it to be available for service for
any event that
May be occurring along the Treasure Coast. This maybe for emergency
situations,
Events such as field day, walkathons, hurricane fairs and the like.

continued

There will be a generator on board, antennas (vhf, uhf,hf), power cords,
cables, storage boxes etc
Provide by me. Please contact Wayne, KA1VRF at ka1vrf at bellsouth.net or at
772-569-8151 if you are willing to assist. Thank you in advance.
Thank you Art for passing all of this along

73 de Wayne (I will also be passing this along to the Vero group as well.)
