The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was
chaired by President Art Lindell, W4ZEF. Attendance was 11. This month, all
attending are members.
MINUTES: The minutes of the September meeting were approved as
distributed, after motion by Greg, KB4VVE, seconded by Paul, KG4MCE.
TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI was absent. He sent his report, which
was approved as distributed, after motion by Greg, KB4VVE, seconded by Paul,
KG4MCE.
Total funds: (designated for WQCS: $55)
$2889.74.
OLD BUSINESS
REPEATER: Art, W4ZEF, said only issue lately was a minor with the
UHF repeater. He asked Greg, KB4VVE, and Kevin, W4KKW, to describe the problem
and fix. Kevin said the PA (power amplifier) was not working. He said he and
Greg solved the problem quickly. Greg said there was a high SWR condition
requiring a re-tune one of the duplexer cavities.
CLUB SOCIAL: BBQ at Carl, KF4KCI, and Betty's house, 4 pm-ish,
Saturday, October 21, 2006. Everyone should bring a dish. Art said that we need to
choose a date now for our December Club Social. Art said we will need to have
Carl tell us when he is available to host another BBQ in December, assuming we
don't instead choose to meet at a restaurant. Art said a date should be chosen
by the next meeting.
Art, W4ZEF, asked Pete, KD4SPW, if Pete had contacted the Hamfest
vendor Bob from Bob and Linda's Amateur Accessories, about the bad antenna
purchased by Bev. Pete said no, that he first e-mailed Bev to inquire if she had
received satisfaction from Bob yet. Pete said he had not yet gotten a response from
Bev.
Art, W4ZEF, asked Joe, KD4BTD, if he had any news about the possible
Veterans Day UDT/SEAL Museum Special Event. Joe said no news. Art said it is
probably too late to plan an event now.
Art, W4ZEF, discussed foreign languages being spoken on our repeaters.
He said he talked to the ARRL, and they said it would not be an issue for our
Club Trustee Kevin, W4KKW. The group discussed the issue some, but Art said it
should not be a problem for us.
NEW BUSINESS
Art, W4ZEF, asked how many members were general class licensees. He
said the club needs more VE testers to help at VE Test Sessions. He said he would
like to see more members upgrade to Extra Class so they could participate. He
said now it falls on him, Joe, KD4BTD, and Ernie, KF4IHX. They will have a
problem when one of the three can’t attend.
Art, W4ZEF, asked Greg, KB4VVE, for the names of some local tower
climbers. Greg said TCI and CML.
Kevin, W4KKW, said we need more Net Control Operators. Paul, KG4MCE, can
’t always make his night and could use fill-ins. Art, W4ZEF, said we also
need others willing to be relief Net Operators.

Fields, KA9COD.
ATTENDANCE: KD4SPW, W4KKW, KB4VVE, KF4IHX, KG4MCE, W1QPD,
