FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES - 6/14/2006

The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was
chaired by President Art Lindell, W4ZEF. Attendance was 16. Visiting was Jack,
AI4NM..

MINUTES: The minutes of the May meeting were approved as distributed,
after motion by Paul, KG4MCE, seconded by Steve, KF4BFR.

TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed
after motion by Paul, KG4MCE seconded by Steve, KF4BFR. Carl was absent this
month, but sent a report.

Total funds: (designated for WQCS ---
$45) $2281.12.
             Total paid members:
                                42.

HAMFEST: President Art, W4ZEF, started a discussion about the
number of Hamfest flyers we should send to individuals, which we will label
tonight. He said we had already sent about 60-ish to Amateur clubs. After
discussion Paul, KG4MCE, made a motion to send a flyer to each previous Hamfest
attendee. Greg, KB4VVE, seconded the motion and it passed. Art said the mailing
would be over 400.

Art, W4ZEF, asked Greg, KB4VVE, if he had heard from Mel, W4DAQ, about
our club HF radio, which has been in the repair shop. Greg said he had not
heard anything about it.

REPEATER: Art, W4ZEF, said the new UHF repeater has been installed
and the interference problem is gone. Art asked Kevin, W4KKW, to tell about the
install. Kevin said the repeater sounds fantastic. He said that Greg, KB4VVE,
had assembled the repeater, and Kevin and Ernie, KF4IHX, had installed it.
Kevin said that initially there was still interference after the install. They
decided to install torroidal or ferrite cores on the cable between the repeater
and the controller. That finally got rid of the interference. Kevin also said
there is a slight echo concern on the 2 meter repeater to address.

IRLP/ECHOLINK: Kevin, W4kkw, said that IRLP and ECHOLINK are not
working at this time, but he expects them to be operating soon after a new link
controller is wired-up and installed, hopefully within a month. Kevin said he
will send out an e-mail to the group when it is operational.

SKYWARN: Art, W4ZEF, said no news about a SKYWARN training class
yet. He said Wayne, KA1VRF, hopes to schedule a class at IRCC.

Art, W4ZEF, asked how it is going at Bill, N4XEO’s house. Pete, KD4SPW,
said there is still very much work to do, going through Bill’s Ham gear. We
discussed having a separate table at out Hamfest to sell Bill’s gear.

Art, W4ZEF, told of our club buying Bill, N4XEO’s flat-bed trailer. He
said we are also going to buy Bill’s GAP TITAN vertical HF antenna. and maybe
one of his HF rigs, maybe the YAESU FT-847. Art said we have options for the
trailer such as mounting a crank-up tower on it.

Art, W4EF, said a Ham contacted him about donating his Ham equipment to
the club. Art said he will be picking up the gear.
