[FPARC] minutes of July meeting

             FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  7/12/2006

      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was 
chaired by 
President Art Lindell, W4ZEF. Attendance was 11. There were no visitors this 
meeting.

      MINUTES: The minutes of the June meeting were approved as distributed, 
after motion 
by Paul, KG4MCE, seconded by Bob, KC0KAC.

      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI was absent this meeting, so no report.

      President Art, W4ZEF, asked Mel, W4DAQ, about our club HF radio. Mel 
said that the synthesizer was out of lock, so he took it to International Radio 
in Fort Pierce. Mel said they promised to have it ready for Field Day. Mel 
said we didn't get it in time for Field Day. The repair price is $158.88. It is 
now ready. Ernie, KF4IHX, will pick up the radio. Pete, 
KD4SPW, will give Ernie   a personal check to pay the repair. 

      REPEATER: Kevin, W4KKW, is absent tonight. 

      IRLP: Kevin, W4KKW, absent.

      SKYWARN CLASS: No news.

      Art, W4ZEF, said that the club bought Bill, N4XEO's flatbed trailer for 
$200. He said the club will decide about purchasing Bill's GAP HF vertical 
antenna that we used at Field Day. Reports are it worked very well. We are 
unsure about buying the GAP because just before Field Day 2 hams donated a bunch of 
gear to the club, including a few Cushcraft HF vertical antennas.

      Ron Knaggs, N1GYX, donated, along with other items, a rotor, 2 
antennas, a HF tuner, PK232 TNCs, and a beam.

      Bill, Loviska, N4RN, donated, along with other items, 2 HF vertical 
antennas, a rotor, and a push up pole. 
     
      Art, W4ZEF, began a discussion about the club’s remaining 2 aluminum 
crank up towers that Jess Porter, W4DNS, donated several months ago. He said we 
might install one on the trailer we just bought. He discussed some other 
options for one of the towers. Art said we really need another gear box, for the 
new trailer.  

      Art, W4ZEF, said the club will decide whether to buy Bill, N4XEO’s, 
YAESU FT-847. He said we will have to decide by next meeting, before the Hamfest.

      Art, W4ZEF, said we will have a work day at Bill’s house this Saturday 
about 9am. Meet at CLOCK RESTAURANT at 8am for breakfast.

      Art, W4ZEF, told about a request that Joe, KD4BTD, received for the 
club to participate 
in a Veteran’s Day event this fall at the UDT/SEAL museum in Fort Pierce.

      Art, W4ZEF, closed the meeting early to continue with a Hamfest meeting.
