                        FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  10/12/2005
 
      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was chaired by  President, Art Lindell, W4ZEF.  Attendance was 20. 
Visitors were Ray, WA4MLD, and Dale Case.
 
      MINUTES: The minutes of the October meeting were approved as distributed, after motion by Bill, N4XEO, seconded by Greg, KB4VVE.
 
      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI?s report was approved as distributed after motion by Bill, N4XEO, seconded by Greg, KB4VVE.
 
      RECENT NEW MEMBERS: Ed, KD4BTG, and Steve, KF4BFR.

                                                         OLD BUSINESS     
     
      REPEATER:    President Art, W4ZEF, told of a Conversation he heard on the UHF repeater between Kevin, W4KKW, and Dennis, KB2VUQ. Art said the audio sounded noisy and funny. He asked if anyone else had heard anything like it, raspy or off frequency. That was discussed some. Then the talk turned to reinstalling the UHF repeater in the cabinet and install the metal shield. It was decided to have a work day at the repeater site this Saturday, October 15, at about 1 PM. Also a different PA would be installed in the VHF repeater and an antenna installed for the IRLP link radio.
      We discussed tower climbers again. It seems probably that the tower climbers out of the Tampa area will be working for St. Lucie Co. and the St. Lucie Repeater Assoc. Greg, KB4VVE, said to let him know when they are to work on the SLRA antenna, and that maybe he and Richard can stop up there and check the SWR, etc.
 
      Art, W4ZEF, asked for a motion to purchase control cable and accessories for the rotor that Dock, N4HYK, donated to the club. Bill, N4XEO, made the motion, Carl, KF4KCI, seconded the motion, and it passed. The group thanked Dock for the donation.
 
      HAMFEST:    Joe, KD4BTD, said IRCC has the request for next year's Hamfest, to be held August, 12, 2006. Joe said he has requested the room for the entire day, in hopes that we will not have a scheduling conflict like this year. Art, W4ZEF, said he wants Hamfest flyers to be ready in January. It can be an early edition without all the final details. Bill, N4XEO, said he will handle Forums if he gets a confirmation on the date early enough. Art said he wants the admission tickets to be ready by March, to sell at our club table at the Stuart Hamfest. We discussed if we should spend more for Hamfest prizes this coming year. We couldn't agree if better prizes would result in more attendance. Carl, KF4KCI,  made a motion to budget $750 for Hamfest prizes. That is $150 more than last year. Quite a discussion followed. Carl rescinded his motion and it was decided to have a committee to decide about Hamfest prizes. The committee members are Art, W4ZEF, Greg, KB4VVE, and Steve, KF4BFR. Bill said members should collect for him business cards from vendors at Hamfests. He will then contact these vendors about coming to our Hamfest.
 
      COMPUTERS:  Carl, KF4KCI, will submit a request to IRCC for 24 computers.
 
      Art, W4ZEF, told of our club social dinner that we had at Dominick's Corner Grill. Art said we had a nice time, but he had expected more members to attend.
      
      Art, W4ZEF, said he had thought that more members would have donated baby wipes for Erin, KG4YQK, to send to troops in IRAQ.
 
      
                                                          NEW BUSINESS
         We discussed a Holiday social, whether to have it at a restaurant again or have a covered dish type gathering. The consensus was to gather for a pot luck or covered dish gathering December 17. Carl, KF4KCI, said he could do a BBQ, with the members bringing side dishes. Carl, KF4KCI, will ask if IRCC cafeteria would be available to us for this purpose. Herb, W1QPD, said he will check with his church about using their room. We also discussed having it at WQCS in the meeting room. 
 
      President Art, W4ZEF, said that October's VE Test Session will be the last for this year, as the 4th Wednesday's fall to close to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
