   The funniest thing that I ever heard of was an automatic IDer and a 
HT in a row boat anchored in the center of a small lake, every one kept 
driving around it, it took a long time to figure it out.

   A local club had a guy setting up about 30 feet in a tree with a HT, 
he didn't transmit when anyone was near.  That took a long time.
