To all...

If anyone here has a keen interest or need for remote Doppler DF reporting
via the internet, please contact me "off forum" for some information.

This is from Bob Simmons... I've recently figured out how to report
PicoDopp DF readings via the internet, and developed a modified version of
the WinDopp display program to do it...

It isn't shown on the website. I want a few folks to try it first. ( beta
test volunteers )

I expect difficulties with firewalls, LANs and virus software that will
"block" the DF messages. Those problems will be specific to each user, so
each user will have to "sort out" those problems, themselves. ( I can't help
much, pretty ignorant of that stuff myself ) Volunteers with that kind of
experience / knowledge would be preferable.

There is a "test pattern" feature provided, which will send ( dummy ) DF
messages via the internet, even with no real DF connected. ( for
troubleshooting the internet link )

I have tested it here, using a very old Win95 machine with no "protection"
and dial-up service, and it works well.

For those not familiar with WinDopp, it is the display program for the
PicoDopp DF, which is described here :

www.picodopp.com

This probably would be suitable only for base station DFs because it
requires an open internet link and an IBM PC to serve as a "host" for the
remote DF. ( PC located at the DF site )

No instructions provided yet, ( might be some changes ) I'll have to assist
with the software installation ( probably ) by phone, for these first few
systems.

It should be possible for multiple DFs to be viewed simultaneously, by
starting / running multiple "copies" of the WinDopp display program
simultaneously, ( on the same display computer ) each talking to a separate
DF site.

If I can work the bugs out of this, I will ( no doubt ) eventually add this
feature to GoogleHunt also.
