A couple of people have reported problems installing GoogleHunt because
Their computers did not have the driver routines to operate the RS232 ports
from
VisualBasic. This is my fault, I should have created a proper "install
wizard" that would
Install the drivers as well as the program.
The error message involves a file named MSCOMM32
I have created an installation wizard, uploaded it to my website, then
downloaded it and tested it here on my own computer, it seems to work...
this will install the missing files and should fix the problem.
You can get it ( zipped ) here :
http://www.silcom.com/~pelican2/GoogleHunt_Install.zip
When you unzip it, there is a README file, please read it BEFORE you try to
run GoogleHunt... it contains some additional install instructions. I was
not able to "fully automate" the install process with the wizard, you must
still do a couple of things "manually".
Run the SETUP.exe file to start the wizard and install GoogleHunt. Just use
the default entries when it asks for permission about anything.
Also, when you first start GoogleHunt, you might get an error message "COM
port not available" which simply means the ( default ) RS232 port is not
available.... either it is not installed or some other program is using
it... If you see this message, you must change the COM port yourself, ( in
the GoogleHunt program ) selecting whatever port you intend to use with a
PicoDopp.
( GoogleHunt allows COM 1 through COM 8 to be selected )
Instructions about how to do that are in the document
"GoogleHunt_Instructions.doc" which is included in the zip file. Once you
select the COM port, it will be saved with other start-up data so you don't
have to do it again.
Once the program Is installed, it will show up in the START / PROGRAMS menu,
as GoogleHunt. ( go there to start and run it )
