This is interesting. I haven't looked for this. If I get a chance this
weekend, I'll check a couple of my quads to see what kind of polarization skew is
present.

Dale, I assume you mounted the MicroHunt right at the feedpoint, with no feed
line at all. Of course, there can still be some radiation from the
transmitter itself at indeterminate polarization.

Was there any azimuth skew on the main lobe in addition to the polarization
skew?

When mobile hunting, I mechanically adjust the polarization of my RDF quad
for max signal while taking bearings at a high spot that is least likely to be
in multipath. (It's often at 45 degrees or some other odd polarization angle,
which may say something about my quad's polarization skew.) After that, I
don't worry too much about what polarization the hider is using, except for
possibly rechecking when I get in close.

I'm more interested in polarization when I'm using the quad or another beam
as the hider. For instance, I might try to achieve completely horizontal
polarization to maximize frustration to the Doppler hunters. In that case, I have
to watch for things that can radiate or re-radiate vertically, such as a metal
mast or the feed line.
