[FoxHunt] IARU Transmitter question

We used some of my transmitters for the practice in Albuquerque. At that
time I had the oscillator running all the time, and I could "hear" them
from quite a distance. If I remember correctly, one of the transmitters
failed and you could only hear the oscillator, and Jerry Boyd found it
anyway. It was then I decided that needed to change, so I added the
extra "vox" type circuit before the champs in Georgia.

I've been using the fishing poles for quite awhile now as the antenna
supports. We are so wooded here that it's a real pain getting a vertical
up quickly without tangling it in the muscadines and kudzu :-) They are
20 feet long and cost about $20 each. There's a big loading coil at the
bottom wound on pvc and 5 radials on the ground. I've never been really
happy with how they work, but they are easy to put up. It would probably
work better with the coil halfway up the vertical or a capacitance hat,
but those modifications would make it harder and slower to set up.
