Greetings from Wisconsin!
I'm new to the list here, I'm Joe Mayenschein WB9SBD been an amateur
since 1975 and loved fox hunting in the late 70's.
I then got married and all that type of stuff stopped, Maybe because it
was the way we did our hunts he he eh.. How things have changed.
I ask you all,, How do you do your hunts?
The way we did ours was,
The fox was a live person, not just a transmitter on a timer system but
a real live ham. they would go out and hide someplace,, we had only
three rules,
1- The Fox must be on public property
2- The Fox must be able to be heard from the designated starting area
3- the first 5 transmissions the signal can not be changed in any way.
That was it,,
#3 was fun later guys were varying power levels even during
transmissions,, or using beams that they turned while transmitting
anything that would mess up a field strength.. it was a blast.
Anyway,, They would transmit one minute every 5 minutes.
who ever found them first got to be the fox the next month, or could
give the fox privilege to anyone they choose to give it to.
anyway they got to be the fox for next month, and they went to a local
pizza place where the rest of the teams had to pick up their tab for all
the free pizza and beer they could or would want to consume!
(I think that part is the part that killed my hunting he he he way too
much beer!) Plus that was in the days that if you went driving home in
that condition and a cop found ya he followed you home to make sure ya
got home safely,, well how times have changed huh? he he he,
soo all How are your hunts done?
