Bob -

   One technique I've seen is to mount a video camera on the front
of the DF equipment so everyone can watch the "S"-meter as you turn
the antenna.

   If you are using an audio output, connect a pair of amplified
computer speakers in place of the headphones so everyone gets
to hear what it sounds like.

   And I always like to take along a 10mW transmitter that folks
can practice finding using body shielding.  That is low enough
power that you can hear it for 100m or so, but you can still get
fairly close without overloading the receiver severely.
