Jeff,
In addition to the radio equipment you need a compass and a good local map
to plot your antenna direction bearings. Take readings from various
locations and plot them. Where the plotted lines cross "should" be the
foxes location. Reflections from local mountains or buildings may make
things more interesting. As you get closer you refine the bearings. Lots
of fun. The neat thing is that you can build the antenna, attenuator and
other accessory equipment if you like that kind of thing.
