Hello All,
Melbourne's first ARDF for 2002 was ran today in almost ideal
conditions. Cardinia Reservoir Park was used for the second time by us.
However, as Mark VK3JMD noted, there are still some areas that we
haven't used. Nine competitors attended, along for their second time
were two newish comers that have recently bridged across from street
orienteering. Dennis VK3BQZ received the medal for traveling the
longest distance to the start.

Start times were allocated between 10am - 1pm. The set time limit of 90
minutes proved to be just a little too short for some. T

Many commented on the difficulty of both the course and the TX
locations. I didn't want to make the course too easy as the A4 map at
1:7500 scale is actually quite small. Yes the hills did create a
challenge, and by placing TX5, TX1 and TX4 all in a line with the start
it proved to confuse several people. Hiding, TX5 in a valley, and the
lower power TX1 at the top of the hill also added to this confusion.

The map with marked TX locations will be available just as soon as I
can scan it. Photo's along with this report and scores will also be
available on the website very soon.
(Bruce, please send me the better photo's)
