The only positive feed back I can give is that in the past I have mixed 
finals and never had a problem.
I used 1 new 6146-B and one 6146 about 12 years old and I just went ahead 
with the procedure in the book and all turned out OK.
I did this on Fox Tango rigs as well as Kenwood rigs.
Maybe a look under the tubes is in order here
