I take the FT-101L to be a typo - did you mean FT-101B?

The FT-101E,EE,and EX were Identical radios. The EE was a more economical
E, omitting the RF processor option that the E included. The EX did not
come with the RF Speech Processor, DC-DC converter, hand mike, and some of
the band crystals were optional - 160m, WWV, and all but one 10m (I think it
came with 10B, which is 28.5-29.0 MHz). I have an FT-101EX that over the
years, I have at one time or another installed all options to bring it up to
FT-101E configuration. No options were difficult to install, but nowadays,
you have to get them used i.e. EBay, etc.

I'm familiar with FT-101, 101L, 101E, 101EE, but Not the "FT-101EX". A
friend of mine inherited this rig recently -- I have not seen it since
I'm 2,000 miles from him, and he has only partially seen it because he's
vision impaired! Anybody got any skinny on this one?
Thanks all, and 73 from Frisco, Texas...
