The 416B converter sold. Had 3 backup offers. I was truly amazed at the interest but seems like it brought back a lot of memories for some. Tnx for all the interest.

Subject: [Moon-Net] Vintage 416B 2m Converter For Sale
Cleaning out the shack in preparation for moving to my retirement home in AZ. Have a vintage (1960's era) 2m converter for sale. It uses a 416B planar triode in the front end that for that era was state of the art with abt a 3dB NF. I'm also including 3 extra 416B's. Other tubes used include 2 ea 6BC4's & 2 ea 6U8A's along with a built in pwr supply using a 6X4W & regulator tube. Pwr supply is putting out both 108 & 150 VDC along w/ filament voltage.
I purchased the converter used in the late 1960's & mounted it on a 5.25 x 19" rack panel with a vy nice Triplett 0-75ma panel meter. It tunes 144-148MHz using a 14-18MHz IF. So, it should work well if you hv a general coverage rcvr. I just turned it on & all filaments light & w/ HV on, front panel bias adjusted ok for the recommended 25ma 416B plate current.
Construction of the converter was not the prettiest work I've ever seen but if I recall correctly, there was a lot of silver plating done to it. It did work years ago & has just been collecting dust since then. I hv not tried it out reception wise.
An on-line tube store currently is asking $29.95 ea for 416B's so don't know if there's a market for the tubes but someone may want to play with it. Putting a mast mounted GaAs FET preamp ahead of it should allow xlnt 2m reception. I use to hv a schematic for it but looked everywhere & can't find it. If I find it later, I'll send it to the lucky buyer.
Not sure what it's worth but asking $50 OBO + shipping fm 92708. Have 3 pictures available upon request.
Tnx & 73,
Bob, K6PF
